NRDC Has Glyphosate Concerns

Submitted by Food Democracy Now on November 16, 2015 - 7:49pm

The European Food Safety Authority has concluded that glyphosate is unlikely to cause cancer and is allowing it to stay on the market. Natural Resource Defense Council’s Senior Scientist Dr. Jennifer Sass says that conflicts with a report issued by the World Health Organization that links glyphosate to exposure to cancer.

Sass says the International Agency for Research on Cancer did a more thorough review and found glyphosate causes kidney cancers.

She’s also concerned that there’s overuse of glyphosate that causes problems.
Sass recommends farmers use more non chemical and least toxic herbicides rather than glyphosate and follow integrated pest management on their operations.
