GMO Labeling Will Cost Consumers Less Than a Penny a Day, New Report Says

Portland, OR – A new analysis commissioned by Consumers Union, the policy arm of Consumer Reports, and conducted by the independent Portland-based economic research firm, ECONorthwest, found from a review of published research that the median cost to consumers of requiring labeling of genetically engineered food, also known as genetically modified (or GMO) food, is $2.30 per person annually.

Supermarkets in New York State could soon be forced to label all genetically modified foods it carries on its shelves, as a bill in Albany would require so-called "GMO labeling" to bring New York in line with practices already embraced by three other states. NY1's Zack Fink filed the following report for NY1.
